BARRY McGUIRE with his hit "EVE OF
DESTRUCTION" from 1965. Flip side is What Exactly's The Matter With
Me. On Dunhill 45-D-4009. Originally this was written by P.F. Sloane and was known as a protest song. I also read that McGuire said that "Eve of Destruction" was recorded in one
take on a Thursday morning (from words scrawled on a crumpled piece of
paper), and he got a call from the record company at 7:00 the following
Monday morning, telling him to turn on the radio—his song was playing. (From Wikipedia.)
The 45 rpm has lots of light surface scratches on the hit side, but they are not feelable and did not affect the overall sound performance! I played it through with no skips or pops. There was sometimes, but barely, low level crackling, but my ears were to the speakers to hear this. The flip side had a little more light crackling throughout, so I'm glad the hit side sounds good! Some light fade spots are on the black Dunhill label. Comes in a Dunhill sleeve.
I give the 45 rpm a Very Good (VG) to VG+ for sound quality!
