  • HODGE, CHRIS Goodbye Sweet Lorraine/Contact Love, 1973 (7"/45 rpm)

There is only 1 item left in stock.

Here is CHRIS HODGE with his Apple 45 rpm entitled "Goodbye Sweet Lorraine/Contact Love".  Stereo.  1973.  Apple 1858 (Matrix reads: S45X 48012  Z5).  Chris was an English singer and signed up with Apple records.  His first single reached 44 in USA and was called "We're On Our Way" back in 1972.  This Goodbye Sweet Lorraine was his follow-up single early in 1973.  It was not a hit in USA, not the UK.  Personally, I really like Side 2, Contact Love.  That sounds rather cool!  But a year later he recorded two more singles.

Side 1 under a bright lamp, Goodbye Sweet Lorraine has about 8 light surface scratches and a tiny scuff at the beginning of the record before the grooves start.  None of this affected the playback.  No skips or pops or even crackles.  There was a tiny bit of a crackle or two here and there, but nothing that really took away from the sound quality.

Side 2 Contact Love has only about 2 super light small surface scratches only seen under that bright lamp and they did not cause any skips or pops!

I rate the Apple cover sleeve as VG+ due to some light wrinkles and light white fading along the seams.  The 45 itself I will give a Very Good Plus (VG+) for the light scratches but it does sound better than VG+, so Excellent will be for sound quality.
