  • GARNER, ERROLL (LP) Plays For Dancing (Col CL 667) 1956 (VG+)

There is only 1 item left in stock.

Here's Erroll Garner with his LP "Plays For Dancing."  From 1956.  Columbia 6-eye label CL 667.  Stamped Matrix reads:  XIP35494-1AA.  A great American jazz pianist and composer.  He was also a twin born in Pennsylvania.  He also NEVER learned to read music, but played all these beautiful years!  He was known for "Misty" in the Play Misty For Me movie with Clint Eastwood.  Erroll died from cardiac arrest related to emphysema on January 2, 1977.  He was only 53.

Side 1:  I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm; Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man; Stompin' at the Savoy; Out of Nowhere; It's the Talk of the Town.
Side 2:  Sweet Sue--Just You; Cheek to Cheek; Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone; The Petite Waltz; The Petite Waltz Bounce.

The cover sleeve looks pretty good for 1956!  Some ringwear in the form of darker fade spots are on the white areas of the front.  Corners are in good shape, but upper right corner has a little bend to it, nothing major.  There is a blue sticker at the side seam right in the middle.  (Pics included)  Back cover just has a little dark square of lines at the upper middle top (zoom in on pic).  The cover sleeve's seams are intact.  No ink marks on the cover.  Columbia label is in good shape except for side 1 shows 2 light lines of spindle wear.  Side 1 has about 10 very light surface scratches and a long scuff mark.  Side 2 has a little more light surface scratches.  And side 2 has a couple of tiny bubbles near the matrix area, but it did not cause any skips.  And none of these light scratches affected the overall sound performance with the exception of very-very low level surface noise--meaning hearing that very light tick here and there.  You know you are playing a vinyl record.

I rate the cover as Very Good Plus (VG+).  The vinyl I give a Very Good Plus (VG+), too.
