This is a promo copy of Group 87's LP. Back cover upper left says FOR PROMOTION ONLY, Ownership Reserved By CBS. Vinyl label says Demonstration-Not for Sale. Inside sleeve is a white plain one. A 1-page 'technical data' sheet on the Group 87 musicians is included, too. Columbia JC 36338.
The three musicians in this group are Mark Isham, Patrick O'Hearn, and Peter Maunu. They had played with earlier with Billy Cobham, Jean-Luc Ponty, Frank Zappa, and even Terry Bozzio (from Missing Persons) even contributed his time on here, besides Peter Wolf (from J. Geils Band), too, but these last two did not end up joining the band in the future. The band only had two albums. The LP is an instrumental. Has a jazz-rock fusion/progressive rock type sound.
Side 1: Future of the City; Magnificent Clockworks; Frontiers: 1856; Sublime Feline
Side 2: The Bedouin; While the City Sleeps; Moving Sidewalks; Hall of Glass; One Night Away From Day
Front cover is in great shape. Minimal ringwear just starting to show up as a whitish fading at the top and bottom, but extremely minimal. Back cover same as front cover with the minimal light white fade spots about one inch long only at the top. The exterior border of the sides of the cover do have light wear as the picture shows. The album itself is in excellent condition. Side 1 has three very light rubs on it that do not affect any sound quality and you need to look under a bright lamp for this. Side 2 has only a couple light rubs, too, but you really have to look for them. No scratches except barely some light surface scratches. I played it through and there are no crackling, no skips, no ticks or pops. Vinyl is still shiny. Excellent sound quality!
I rate the cover as Very Good Plus (VG+) to Excellent (EX) and the vinyl as Excellent (EX) to Near Mint Minus (NM-)!
