  • KELLY, WYNTON (45rpm/7") Comin' In The Back Door/If That's The...Verve, 1963 VG+

There is only 1 item left in stock.

WYNTON KELLY 45 rpm with Comin' in the Back Door/If That's The Way You Want It.  On Verve Records VK-10310 from 1963.  Matrix reads:  VK10310 63VK706-1.  Wynton was a jazz pianist who played with many bands.  Born in Jamaica in 1931, died in Canada in 1971.  This orchestra on the 45 rpm was conducted by Claus Ogerman on most tracks, Kenny Burrell on guitar, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums.  It's instrumental.  Sounds cool!  (More pop-ish than heavy jazz sound.)  He played a lot with the Miles Davis Band.

The record comes in a plain white sleeve.  There is a drill hole in the label area, otherwise the label is in good shape.  The vinyl has at least 10-15 short, but very light, surface scratches on both sides, but unfeelable as they are not deep.  I played it on my turntable and there were no skips or pops.  There was a very light general surface noise in the form of light crackling here and there, but you only hear it during quieter times on the vinyl.  I didn't think it detracted from the sound performance at all.

I give the 45 rpm a Very Good Plus (VG+).
