  • DANLEERS/VOXPOPPERS on DJ 60 Second Special EP, green Mercury MEP-46, 1958

There is only 1 item left in stock.

This 45 rpm Extended Play is a DJ/Promo copy on a green Mercury label MEP-46.  Known as Disc Jockey Sixty Second Special.  From 1958.  Matrix on Side 1 reads:  MEP#46 17582-17601-1. The songs are only about 60 seconds long.  One Summer Night by the Danleers was their only big hit back in 1958.  The Voxpoppers were a quintet out of New York that were more of a doo-wop/rhythm & blues type band.

Side 1:  (It's Been a Long Time) Pretty Baby (Zwern-Gino) by Gino & Gina; Pony Tail (Jack Hammer) by the Voxpoppers.

Side 2:  One Summer Night (Danny Webb) by The Danleers; Bright Lights of Brussels (Layton-Bergmann) by Eddie Layton (instrumental).

Only comes with a plain white sleeve.  The green Mercury label shows some darker ringwear on both sides.  There are a ton of short scratches on both sides of the 45 rpm, but no skips or pops.  At some times there is a little bit of general crackling surface noise, but it doesn't override the basic sound quality--that's pretty good for a scratchy looking 1958 45 rpm!  Let me know if you want to hear a sound clip of the tunes and I'll try to put it on here.  I've put several pix of the 45 that show some of the scratches.

I rate the 45 rpm as in looks a Very Good (VG), but sound quality is a little bit better at Very Good Plus (VG+).
